Here are a few of our favorite Big Ideas + Other Cool Stuff from Week 3 of Gail McMeekin’s 4-week course The 12 Secrets of Highly Successful Women: Part Two.
Gail is known as the Passionate Mentor to Creative Women and is the CEO of Creative Success, LLC in Boston. She has written multiple best-sellers, including the textbook for this class The 12 Secrets of Highly Successful Women: A Portable Life Coach for Creative Women.
By the end of this three part course, we hope you will have a manifesto of your dream for success, a list of creative ideas to actualize and monetize, and elevated self-esteem with new ways of thinking and the courage of a lion.
Here are three of the Big Ideas shared during class...
Big Idea #1: Money Confusion
Women encounter a lot of money confusion including the "Fear of Success", "Greed is Good" and the "Do it All" mentalities along with "Financial Vagueness." These can be difficult to encounter and even harder to get over. Gail says in the book, "When it's all about the bottom line, the heart and soul of who we are is discarded and we become empty inside." We, as women, need to learn the what and why of our thoughts on money and overcome our problems and fears of dealing with it.
Big Idea #2: Being Conscious
Businesses (especially those run and influenced by women) are rapidly becoming conscious. A conscious business is one that cares about people and the planet. It focuses on the influence that is made on the people who work for it, the community around it and even the effect made on the planet. As we go into the business world as successful women we need to use our wonderful creative minds to understand and change the influence we have on our community and the world at large.
Big Idea #3: Experiencing Fulfillment
It is important to experience fulfillment with where we are now. We need to get over the "I'll be happy when..." We need to focus on goals and celebrate when we achieve them, but know that they won't fulfill us if we can't experience fulfillment now. This is especially true financially because as the book says, "Money only makes you more of who you are."
