The Context

In this 4-week course, work directly with fitness expert and author Mike Mahler to learn the secrets to running a successful fitness business in a down economy and take charge of your financial future now!

Mike went from barely making ends meet in 2002 to making over $150,000 profit in 2005! What makes Mike's business special is he has no overhead (no facility, gym etc) and does not offer private lessons. Instead he focuses on having an information packed fitness website that acts as a money making machine to promote all of his offerings: workshops, online consulting, information products, nutrition products, and training equipment.

Mike Mahler is a kettlebell instructor, fitness expert, and hormone optimization researcher based in Las Vegas, NV. He is the author of the best selling book "Live Life Aggressively! What Self-Help Gurus Should Be Telling You.

Here are a few of our favorite Big Ideas from Week 1 - Creating a High-Traffic, Sticky Website

Big Idea #1: Testimonials

Mike Mahler is one of the most respected fitness experts and hormone optimization experts in the country. In fact, Google "hormone optimization" and you'll see he "owns" the top four spots. Even as an experienced expert he still uses testimonials to encourage and prove the quality of his work to future and current customers.

Testimonials are statements from customers and other fitness professionals that exhibit your level of skill, ability to get results, and professionalism to others.

Testimonial are crucial elements to any high quality website!

Make sure the testimonials you use are specific, thoughtful, and strategic. A testimonial that says, "Trainer Bob is a nice guy", isn't going to cut.

Here's a powerful testimonial on Mike's page regarding one of his training DVD'S:

"When I ordered the Collision Course DVD set, I was a little concerned over the price. However, since receiving the DVDs, I have watched the entire set of DVD's at least 3 times and I am going back to selected sections fairly regularity. This DVD set, like your other DVDs, transcends the somewhat generic set of content that seems to be prevalent among kettlebell DVD products on the market these days. Each of these presentations could probably exist as a stand-alone product, so it is truly a super value to get all 7 presentations in one package."

ACTION: Make a list of 5-10 past clients/peer trainers that you can ask for a testimonial from this week!

Big Idea #2: Quality Content/Articles

Mike encourages potential six figure fitness professionals to become subject matter experts in their particular fitness niche using high quality content as a marketing platform.

Content include articles on your website, guest articles on popular websites and fitness blogs, video blogs, and even radio/TV appearances!

Creating content is free - All it requires is research time and the act of writing, a great article will pay for itself over time.

Choose the content style and format that fits you: If you're camera shy; stick to articles. If you're not a good writer; do video!

High quality content lasts forever on the web: Focus on doing great research, being interesting and simple, and showing consistent production.

ACTION: Aim to write a certain number of videos or articles before the end of 2012 today!

Big Idea #3: List-Building is Fundamental!

Would you rather have 1 record breaking sales day or a large email list of interested clients?

Mike Mahler says the email list is the winner!

Keep it simple: Make sure you have an email opt-in form on your website and collect emails individually when you're doing live sessions.

A high quality email list provides DIRECT access to past clients who have purchased product, taken workshops and boot camps, and shown an interest in your work (never put emails on your list without permission; that will kill your reputation).

If you produce a high quality newsletter you could have customers for life!

Mike emphasizes having a mix of pitches, high quality content, and other materials to make the newsletter interesting.

The most important element: You! Make sure that you share your own personality and prospective in both your newsletter, website, and  any other materials you produce.

Other Cool Stuff:

Mike emphasized video content in this week's lesson. Check out this awesome video of him sharing high value information based on his recent book!
