The Context

Everyone has an extraordinary voice of wisdom within.

You just need to know how to activate it.

In the midst of a personal trauma, Janet Conner, author of Writing Down Your Soul: How to Activate and Listen to the Extraordinary Voice Within, stumbled upon a deceptively simple process that activates that voice. Following the guidance she received on the page, Janet transformed her world, rebuilt her finances, radically altered her career, and discovered the secret to endless creativity. Her landmark book, Writing Down Your Soul, is now the top-selling book in the journal writing category.

In this 4-week course you will work directly with Janet Conner to access the power, wisdom, and beauty of your deepest self.

Big Idea #1: Mirror, Mirror...

Janet taught the class a simple but powerful practice. Look at yourself in the mirror twice a day, morning and night. Looking into your eyes, say, “You are precious and important.”

While this practice may seem very simple, it can be extremely difficult to execute.

Janet told us a story about how she was once a member of a therapy group where the therapist taught this practice. Janet tried to do it, but at that time in her development, could not.

However, she began to notice an interesting effect in the group. Those people who were able to practice in this way began to transform. By the end of the group, they were positively flying! Those that could not do this practice remained stagnant.

In time, with a lot of work, Janet was also able to tell herself that she was precious and important and enjoy the transformative benefits this brought.

Big Idea #2: Connect / Disconnect

While we are practicing soul writing, we can feel extremely connected to our center and our Source. However, as the calamities of the day begin to pile in upon us, we can grow more and more disconnected. How do we keep the nourishment that we receive on the page feeding us throughout the day?

One thing we can try is finding other moments to connect to the Divine. One great place to do this is during your commute. Because your body is able to do the commute on total autopilot, it can be a good time to talk to the Voice of your journal.

You can simply speak out loud what you would have otherwise written and then listen for the response within. Other good places to practice this are in the shower, “the phone booth to God”, and in bed, during those exquisite moments between waking and sleep.

Big Idea #3: The Mystery Man

Janet was giving one of her first readings and she was in a tiny bookstore. She was understandably nervous. She gave her talk and thought that the worst was behind her, but then noticed that a man who was sitting right in front of her had raised his hand.

Nervously, Janet called on him.

“I know what this is,” he said. “This is a romance.”

Janet was struck by his words.

“You’re right, this is a romance. A romance between you and the Inner Voice,” she said.

“Well, I’m done here. I had just come in to grab a coffee,” the man said, got up and left.

His words had given Janet a profoundly different perspective on the work being done with Soul Writing. It had clarified for her the sense of love,  excitement and discovery that comes with doing this work. Later on, reflecting on the events, Janet came to believe that this man was the Archangel Michael, who had come to open her eyes to the true nature of her work.

She tried hard to find out if anyone knew anything about this mystery man, and all that she could find out was that his name was, indeed, Michael

As you practice Soul Writing, remember that it is a romance between you and the One Who Knows.
