The Context
Dr. Rosie Kuhn is the founder of the Paradigm Shifts Coaching Group, a preeminent thought leader in the field of transformational coaching, and a coach training and leadership development expert. She is the author of Self-Empowerment 101, and The Unholy Path of a Reluctant Adventurer, and also the creator and facilitator of the Transformational Coaching Training Program.
This course is for those who realize that they can no longer avoid, distract or deny their current reality and want to self-empower themselves to actualize the life they have dreamed of, regardless of what uncertainties prevail. It requires moving beyond hope, beyond trust and to some degree, even faith; grounding oneself in the knowing that they talk about but have yet to fully experience.
Dr. Kuhn will provide skills and tools to support the facilitating process of a very personal journeying through a time of uncertainty.
Here are a few of our favorite Big Ideas from Week 4-Walking Your Talk
Big Idea #1: Awareness=Only One Step
The job of the spiritual seeker isn't to know everything, the job of the seeker is to 'be with' all things through self actualization. Self actualization is the act of integrating mind, body and spirit. Learning is only the first step towards the actualization process. We must experience.
When we personally experience our personal truth we are able to 'be' instead of 'do'. In order to participate fully in this human adventure you must take action by changing thoughts, feelings and behaviors.
This change is a process of self-compassion and challenging ourselves!
Big Idea #2:The Leading Cause of Depression!
The leading cause of depression is self deprecation. The act of negative self talk. Many of us say things to ourselves that we would never say to our worst enemy!
"I'm never enough"
"I can't do it..."
"I'm so stupid"
We have the power to make a decision about how we talk to ourselves. We must discipline our mind and ego to have a positive self relationship!
Some thoughts need to be transcended, some thoughts need to be transformed. -Dr. Kuhn
Big Idea #3: What Do You Fear The Most?
There are real and imagined elements of life that frighten us. We may fear never being loved, never having a relationship, the lack of money, or even death. There are circumstances and situations that cause us to panic.
We all have an internal worst case scenario.
To fully experience life we must explore our worst case scenario and make peace with this fear. We must face it. What will you do when you run out of options and there are no other choices?
Observe and experience your interal process of this exercise. Embrace the fear.
Fear is not truth.
The truth will emerge through the deepening of our knowing and bravery.
As the worst case scenario plays out, we will realize that we can survive discomfort.
Affirmation: I'm grateful for the way that it is. -Dr. Kuhn
