Here are a few of our favorite Big Ideas from Week 5:
Big Idea #1: Bringing the Mystical into Practical Form!
So you've got your vision board set up, you're listening to the voice of the Divine and are connecting with your deepest desires. You're done, right? Not quite.
Now we need to give tangible form to our intention, to co-create it with the Universe.
We do this through establishing a practice. We choose to perform a specific action every single day. Maybe we work on our blog for five minutes each day, or spend ten minutes a day studying French. We do just a little bit at first, taking baby steps, but we show up and allow the universe to work with us day after day after day.
It's like a GPS system. If you just tell it where you want to go but keep the car in park, you'll never get there. But if you switch to drive and add a little gas, the GPS system can kick in. You can even drive the wrong way - it will recalulcate and show you where you need to turn to get to your destination!
Big Idea #2: Life Visioning
Ready to connect to your deepest wisdom? This system was created by Michael Beckwith of the Agape Center. Here's how it works:
Close your eyes. Turn within. Connect with the breath. Let the breath breathe you. Don't judge your experience or the way you are breathing. This is an experiment and an exploration so be curious!
Bring your attention to your heart. Think of your loved ones.
Connect with your sense of Love. Ask yourself, what does my highest vision for myself look like? What does it feel like? What does it smell and sound like? Be curious about the answers that come up.
Ask yourself, what am I being asked to give up so that this vision can manifest?
Ask, what must I become? In what direction is my vision asking me to grow?
Ask, what are the gifts and talents that I already have that can help support this vision?
Ask, is there anything else that I am to know at this moment?
Return to an awareness of your heart and remember that there is a loving wisdom there that knows the path you need to take. You can surrender to the guidance of this wisdom.
Make a commitment to bringing the vision you have experienced into form.
Thank the Divine Presence!
Big Idea #3: Overcoming Obstacles
On the way to bringing our vision into reality, we face obstacles. Here are some tools for overcoming them:
Emotions: Our obstacles might be emotions like anger, fear, extreme sadness, etc. Develop your skillfulness in dealing with these emotions as they come up instead of ignoring them.
Remember that fear looks like this: "what if + negative outcome". Instead of focusing on that possibility, try this out for size: "what if + wonderful outcome". Feels better, doesn't it? ;)
When sadness comes up, think about what you still need to grieve. What needs to rise to the top of your conscious mind and be met with compassion?
Working with anger, remember the words of the Buddha, anger is like a hot coal. The one holding it gets burned. Who needs to be foriven so that you can stop hurting yourself?
Negative Beliefs: When your obstacle is a negative belief, use the tools we've been exploring in this class to reframe it.
Information: Feel like you don't know the stuff you need to know to accomplish your dreams? Time to go into full-out research mode. Conduct informational interviews, talk to people in the know, learn, learn, learn. Soon you'll have the info you need.
Skillset: Perhaps the obstacle is that you don't know how to do something that your Mystical side is telling you to do? The Practical approach - go and learn it. Often, developing a new skillset is essential to bringing your vision to life.
Time: If you find yourself short on time, start tracking your "numbing time" - facebook, television, etc. Set up a time management system. Finally, schedule more. The more you schedule your day, the more time you will have available to fulfill your vision!
Money: Is money your obstacle? It's time to work on your relationship with this powerful energy. Remember, it's important to both spend and save. Think of spending as an investment and invest only in those things that truly enrich you. Save a little bit each month, even if it's ten dollars a month. Beginning to save will create the energy to save more.
Health: If your obstacle is health, start taking better care of yourself. We often ignore our bodies, but in order to bring our inspiration into reality we need to pay attention to the temple of our physical form.
Motivation: What is your big WHY? Be clear on the purpose of your vision and return to it often to reinspire yourself. If you're having trouble inspiring yourself, find the many amazing inspirational speakers, coaches and motivators who are out there waiting to fire you up!
Other People: Are other people's opinions stopping you from making your vision a reality? Remember this: other people's thoughts are none of your business. Let go of people pleasing - trying to manipulate other people into liking you is selfish. Move into what you want to create in the world.
If you have dependents or a life partner and are scared of what they're going to think of your dreams - turn them into allies. Have a heartfelt conversation with them about your vision and see how you can work together to create something wonderful.
Explore and contemplate the exercises we engaged in this week. Deepen your connection to the wisdom they provide.
Come up with action steps to help you overcome an obstacle and practice overcoming it.
