Here are a few of our favorite big ideas from this week:
Big Idea #1: Food is Information
Think of your body as hardware, and food as the software that tells the body what to do!
We used to think of genes as what's "set in stone", and we have now learned how to turn genes on and off, but we have to create the conditions in our body for the genes to be switched on and off in a natural way, the way nature would have designed it!
Natural, whole foods vs processed foods provides different information, and can confuse the body in it's natural functioning.
What information are you putting in your body? From the thoughts you think, to the primary way you interact with nature through food- if you're discovering imbalances or dis-eases going on within your body or lifestyle, it is important to look first at what information you are putting into your body- this can initiate the importance and purpose of a cleanse.
Big Idea #2: You are whole & complete
There's no mistakes, your body doesn't make mistakes- everything it does it does on purpose!
From an allopathic perspective of medicine, the body can be viewed as making mistakes, so new chemicals are injected to "fix" the body. But from a holistic perspecitve, the body is whole & complete- what looks like a disease to us is only the body trying to heal and survive. So the only real question from a healer's perspective is "what is it trying to survive?"
The body is trying to survive one of two things:
1) an obstacle; to it's normal functions
2) the lack of something, not just at the level of nutrients; freedom of speech, intimacy, rest, expression
..when you remove the obstacle, and add whatever the body is lacking everything corrects by itself.
Big Idea #3: No go on the Joe!
Why do we have to give up coffee? Many reasons!
But there are three (3) most important reasons:
1) It's a regulator! It down-regulates the conversion of certain toxins into non-toxic molecules in the liver. Caffeine slows down detoxification in the liver.
2) Pests love coffee! It is the most irrigated crop with pesticides, so adds to the toxicity of coffee.
3) It's like a whip to your adrenal glands- it discharges them, and burns them out!
