Here are a few of our favorite Big Ideas + Other Cool Stuff from Week 3 of Brian Piergrossi's four-week course From Anxiety to Inner Piece.
At the age of 20 years old, Brian was suddenly struck by a mysterious, debilitating illness, later labeled chronic fatigue syndrome, that lasted for years, leaving him in intense, daily, physical pain and too weak to effectively function in society.
What began was over 11 years of committed, serious inquiry, study and personal application into the fields of spirituality, religion, psychology, sociology, cosmology, ecology, health, arts, science, yoga, as well as the core of the enlightenment and self-realization teachings.
After leading a quiet, simple life for over a decade, Brian felt a passionate calling to share his straight forward, timeless, spiritual truths for the 21st Century in a modern context with those who are ready and interested.
Let's check out a couple of our favorite Big Ideas from Week 1 - The Introduction.
Big Idea #1: Recognize the Story
Many people think that the way they see things is reality. But it's not reality, it's the story they're creating around reality.
There is no such thing as physical reality, because whatever you see and hear is always affected by the lens through which you look at things.
When you start to awaken, you realize that everything in time and space is a story. But the true shift in life happens when you realize that you have control over the story.
Whenever you catch yourself running a story that takes away your power, see how quickly you can replace it with a more empowering one.
When you change your story, you change your life.
Big Idea #2: You're Already Successful
Many of us have big goals and the desire to improve the quality of our life as we move forward. We see success as something to strive for, something in the distant future.
Oftentimes, this comes with a hefty price: the disatisfaction of knowing we are not yet where we want to be.
But here's the truth: you already are successful if you are walking on the path. Success is a journey, not a destination.
Instead of working from a place of constant striving, try working from a place of enjoyment and appreciation. This will create the consciousness through which all your goals can be achieved.
Big Idea #3: Focus On What You Want
The law attraction dictates that we attract what we think about. That's why it's so important to think about what we want, not what we don't want.
Most of the time, if you are anxious it means you are envisioning what you DON'T want to happen. This causes unecessary suffering and sends out vibrational energy that will attract exactly what you're trying to avoid.
So whenever you catch yourself focusing on what could go wrong, switch things around and imagine what it would look like if things worked out perfectly.
By focusing your thoughts on what you want to happen, you'll not only feel much better in the present moment, you'll be setting yourself up for an extraordinary future.
