Here are a few of our favorite Big Ideas from Session 5!
Big Idea #1: The House of Empowerment
To empower someone is to give them power or authority in a particular realm, to help them tap into their own strength. The House of Empowerment looks at how your vision calls forth the best from you and everyone else who comes into contact with your project, how the project serves both you and others.
This is a House built on relationships. As we do the work of this House, we listen deeply to the people around us, to their essence, and we call forth what’s best inside of them. Walking through this House, we both nurture others and allow ourselves to be nurtured. We allow the potential and energy of the people who support us to lend strength to our project.
Because the House of Empowerment receives its energy from other people, we must ask ourselves, who are the people that we spend the most time with? Are these people supporting us to live into our greatest potential?
Big Idea #2: Word Associations
Here is a powerful exercise for connecting to the House of Empowerment.
Take out a piece of paper. In the middle, write the word “integrity” and circle it. Then, begin free-associating with the word integrity, as it connects to your project. You may wish to write with your non-dominant hand – this will give you access to another part of your brain and may yield unusual insight.
Once you have free associated with the word integrity for a while, write down the words “core values” and free associate with those words, as they relate to your project. Next, work with the word “leadership.”
Following that, write down the name of your project. Under it, write your full name, followed by a comma, followed by the word “leader”. For example: My Novel, Alexei Soma, leader. Circle the title of your project, your name and leadership position and free associate with it one more time. Take time to reflect on what comes up.
Big Idea #3: The Message
Remember, your project sends a message out into the world. Ask yourself, “What message am I sending out about this project and about who I am?” As you explore this question, here are some questions to contemplate:
What is the message that people around you are hearing as you manifest this vision?
Is this the message you want the world to receive? If not, what needs to shift?
How does the manifestation of this vision serve you directly?
How does the manifestation of this vision serve others?
As you understand the answers to this question, your message will become more clear. You will be able to empower others more, and they will offer you more empowerment in turn.
