Here are a few of our favorite Big Ideas from Class 2 - Emotional And Mental Mastery For An Easy Cleanse:
Big Idea #1: Creating a Mindset for Success!
What's the magic formula for creating change in our life?
Consistent Action = Change
That's right! If we consistently stick with action, it will lead to change!
Needing "willpower" for change can seem like a distant and uncomfortable concept, and that "having" this will will be a challenge. Willpower is simply a change in your will!
If we look at our will and our decision to change, it could be as simple as a switch going off in our head. When the change we desire is at the top of our priority list, willpower is not needed. When your health is #1, that’s what you’re committed to and everything comes afterward. It becomes easy to perform the consistent action because you WANT to! :)
So, how about you? What are you doing this for? Why start a 7-day cleanse?
What are YOUR top 3 reasons?
Staying focused and motivated over the cleanse is key!
Big Idea #2: Our Emotional Needs + Triggers
Are there emotions that you have experienced around food, whether you're getting together with friends or family?
We all look for feelings of acceptance and connection, and as a result, we often associate certain types of food (like burgers, pizza, and pasta) with those emotions.
It's not that these foods are always bad to consume; it's more if we're seeking them out when we're actually hungry for an emotion!
Maybe you're triggered around boredom, loneliness, and stress and are using foods to calm you down. What might be some of your triggers?
The Six Emotional Needs We All Desire:
- Certainty: our spouse, our job—helps us stay safe
- Uncertainty: we do like to be surprised and break up the patterns
- Significance: in the eyes of the world or amongst your family and friends
- Love and Connection: very comforting
- Growth: stimulates us to improve
- Contribution: how you give back
Are you looking for any of these emotions with food?
Big Idea #3: What Are You REALLY Hungry For?
Just by asking this question, you increase your awareness, allowing this inquiry to serve you!
Is it true hunger?
What are you craving? Is it something sweet or a fat? Maybe there’s something clean and healthy you can add to your juice, smoothie or salad!
First step: replace the food that you’re reaching for with what you truly NEED—is it comfort, fun, adventure, certainty, uncertainty??
Then: look at what other activities or choices you could make that would serve that particular hunger. What could you do/be/think that would deliver the emotional need you’re after?
Maybe it’s reading a book, watching a movie, getting a massage, going out with friends, or getting a hug! :)
What brings you pleasure and how can you bring this into your day—every day?
Other Cool Stuff:
Here's a juicing recipe from Philip—one that's sure to satisfy you!
- 2-4 heads of celery
- 1-2 cucumbers or zucchini
- romaine lettuce (along with a darker green, like kale)
- herbs (mint, parsley, cilantro)
- lemon or lime

Types of Juicers:
- Breville – this can make a quick and fast juice, but the pulp that comes out is wet, so you're not get all the juicy goodness!
- GreenStar – this really breaks everything down and allows you to get the most from your juice; it takes longer, but pulp will be dry, and the juice will last longer!
